There was huge interest in the Vienna Trips, on which the Jewish Welcome Service invited young descendants of Shoah survivors this summer. Demand has been so great that registration is not currently possible. The first guests visited Vienna in October. The offer is also supported by the Vienna Tourist Board.

On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the Jewish Welcome Service launched a plethora of extraordinary initiatives. Among others, it launched the campaign “Vienna Trips”. In 2021 and 2022, the JWS is inviting descendants of Holocaust survivors, aged between 18 and 35, to Vienna – both to get to know the home of their ancestors and to search for traces of them.
Since this October, packages for two people have been awarded that cover both the flight and a seven-day stay. In addition, support is provided for family-history research as well as a wealth of tips for organizing the stay in Vienna. Each stay should be documented in a kind of “Vienna diary” – especially with photos and videos for social media channels, like Instagram and Facebook. The offer is also supported by the Vienna Tourist Board.
