The Shoah Wall of Names Memorial was ceremoniously opened in Vienna’s Ostarrichi Park on November 9, after many years of planning. The project was initiated by Kurt Yakov Tutter and the association that he founded for this purpose.

2021 Zelman Prize goes to “Likrat” and “Republican Club”
In the middle of September, Vienna’s City Councilor for Cultural Affairs, Veronica Kaup-Hasler, presented the Leon Zelman Prize for Dialogue and Understanding at Vienna City Hall for the ninth time. To mark 40 years of the JWS, two prizes were awarded this time round: To the dialog project “Likrat” for young people and to the “Republican Club”. The documentation of the prize-giving is now available on YouTube, as are clips of interviews with earlier prizewinners.

Brochure published on the history of the Jewish Welcome Service
The brochure entitled “40 Years of the Jewish Welcome Service” was recently published. The lavishly illustrated 80-page publication in German and English is free of charge and also available online.

“Vienna Trips” for Young Adults
On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the Jewish Welcome Service is launching a plethora of extraordinary initiatives. Amongst other things, it is offering trips to Vienna this year and the coming year for young descendants of Shoah survivors.

“For the Child” in London
The exhibition “For the Child” is on display at the Austrian Cultural Forum London until September 30. Starting in August, it can also be visited in Vienna – in the Neubau District Museum as well as in the Meidling District Court. Read more
Golden Medal of Honor to Eva Schloss
In the middle of June, the Austrian Ambassador Dr. Michael Zimmermann awarded the Golden Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria to the British-Austrian Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss at the Austrian Cultural Forum London.
