Expelled Jewish citizens and their families visited Vienna from April 23 to 30. The group was invited and looked after by the Jewish Welcome Service Vienna. Also among the invitees was the blogger “Freud’s Butcher”, who commented on her impressions of Vienna, sometimes with humor.

The Jewish Welcome Service Vienna hosted a group of first and second generation Jews from Vienna from 18 to 25 September. The group consisted of fifty people, including many children and grandchildren.

Sixty-six thousand Jews in Austria were murdered by the National Socialists. For most of these people, the journey to extermination began in the heart of Vienna, in the collection centers on Kleine Sperlgasse, Castellezgasse and Malzgasse. An exhibition organized by the Austrian Academy of Sciences in the crypt of the Holocaust Memorial casts light on these forgotten places of the Holocaust and the fates of the victims of the deportations.
